Care Packages

Care Packages are a wonderfully thoughtful way to provide some basic necessities for our parents during this very stressful time. When a child is ill and headed off to an out-of-town hospital, parents may not have the time to stop and think about packing something as basic as a bar of soap. Their thoughts are only on making sure their child gets well. To welcome all our families to Ronald McDonald House and to help them with these basic necessities, we provide each family that comes through our doors with a Welcome Bag. Your gift of a Care Package helps make this possible.

Making up Care Packages is an ideal activity for larger or youth/teen groups. They can be prepared in your own setting and dropped off at the house anytime. Any kind of container will do for your Care Package, but reusable bags and plastic containers are always appreciated. Full or travel sizes items of any quantity will be appreciated. Please do not include any candy or food items in the packages or any items that might be considered medicinal (i.e. cough drops or cortisone creams).

These suggestions will help you get started, but feel free to add your own ideas:

Soap
Body wash
Facial cleanser
Shampoo
Conditioner
Hair gel
Hair spray
Toothbrushes
Toothpaste
Mouth wash
Dental floss
Deodorant (male & female)

Care Packages can be dropped off at our House any day between 9 AM and 9 PM. There is no need to call ahead unless you’d like to have a tour. In that case, just let us know when you’d like to come in, and we’ll be sure to arrange it. Don’t forget to fill out a donation form or have community service forms signed while you are here. We allow 2 hours of community service per 25 bags.

Thank you again for helping us truly provide a “home away from home” for our guest families.

Sincerely,

Lisa Davis

For the safety of our House children and parents, anyone in your group who is coughing, feverish, has a runny nose or has been exposed to a contagious disease should not visit the House or be involved in this activity. Some children are in isolation or have immune-suppressed bodies and cannot fight even the simplest cold. There are gloves available for all visitors, and we encourage frequent hand-washing.

***No community restitution or court ordered volunteers can be accepted.***
