Request A Room

Request a Room

For your convenience, you may apply to live at our House by completing an application online or by printing and either faxing, emailing, or mailing your application documents.

Applications may be submitted up to 60 days prior to your scheduled appointment at Cincinnati Children's Hospital Medical Center or other qualifying area hospitals.  See below for the procedure to request a room for a short-term (1-4 days) stay.  Please be aware that we often have a long waiting list.  Once a room becomes available, we will contact you. Cincinnati Children’s may be able to help you locate temporary housing alternatives. Learn more about Cincinnati Children’s Guest Services or contact them at 513.636.5009.

Please bring the following with you for check in:

  • Your photo ID.
  • Your insurance/Medicaid card and information.  Coverage may require obtaining pre-approval on your part.  Please check with your insurance prior to arriving.
  • Our House has an access control system to help keep our families safe.  We ask for a deposit of $5 each for the FOB’s that you will be using to open your door.  A maximum of 2 will be given to families, so you will need a maximum of $10 for a deposit.  This will need to be in cash or a check that will be returned when you check out and return the FOB’s.

Please note that if this is your first visit our check in will take between 30-60 minutes.

RMHC conducts a formal criminal background check on all individuals applying for temporary residence.  A background check authorization must be received from each individual applying to stay at least 2 business days prior to their arrival.    RMHC reserves the right to refuse admittance to any potential resident or guest with a criminal conviction.  RMHC does not admit anyone with a felony or misdemeanor conviction that may threaten the health, safety, welfare, and ability of other individuals to peacefully enjoy the House (e.g., violent crimes, domestic violence, child abuse, sex offenses, illegal drug activity and/or burglary).

Apply Online

Complete our online application.

Please note that we need a separate background check authorization form for each individual 18 and over.  If you have submitted one before there is no need to complete one again unless there has been a change in your circumstances, including any warrant or arrest.

If you are unable to complete our online application, please conact the Manager on Duty at 513-636-7642.

Short-Term Stays

Due to our long waiting list, it can be difficult to get a room at our House for families who only need to stay for a few days. To assist these families, we have reserved ten rooms in our House exclusively for guests staying four nights or less.  On the Monday one month in advance of your appointment date, you may contact us about booking a Short-Term Room.

Example: Your appointment is Saturday December 17th.  One month in advance of your appointment is Thursday, November 17th. You may call to book a Short-Term Room on Monday November 14th.

Some months have 5 weeks which may cause the dates to fall differently.

Please call the Short-Term Room Coordinator with any questions.

How the Short-term Stay Rooms are Booked

The booking of these rooms is handled differently than any other room because families are assigned to these rooms with specific check-in and check-out dates.  To apply to stay in one of our short-term rooms, please complete the online application AND contact one of our Short-Term Coordinators to check availability:

  • Our Short-Term Room Coordinators work Monday through Friday and can be reached by phone at 513-636-2304 or by email at shorttermrooms@rmhouse.org

Important information about the short-term stay rooms:

  • The short-term stay rooms can be booked for 1, 2, 3 or 4 nights, depending on availability.
  • The short-term stay rooms can be booked one month in advance. (See calendar instructions above.)
  • Families who have reserved the short-term stay rooms are not eligible to be on our regular waiting list, until after they have checked out of their short-term stay room.
  • Families are limited to two separate stays per month in the short-term stay rooms. Each stay needs to be a different visit to Cincinnati.
  • Families will need to complete the online application form for each request to stay.
