Tiara Hill-Lee

A letter from Tiara's mom:

In 2008, my beautiful daughter was born with a disease that we had never heard of: Hirschsprung’s disease. Basically, her colon did not fully develop and does not work properly. We were terrified new parents. Over the next several years, after many local hospitalizations, surgeries and ER visits, we were finally blessed to find one of the world’s finest surgeons and centers here in Cincinnati at Children’s Hospital. One problem that we faced was simply getting here. Missing so much work to care for my sweet child had left us bankrupt and destitute but had not diminished our faith, hope or resolve.

My mom, who had spearheaded a fundraiser at her job for our local Ronald McDonald House, urged me to ask the social workers at the hospital about a Cincinnati Ronald McDonald House. The rest is history.

I wasted no time in getting connected. My family and I were able to bring my child to Cincinnati Children’s for medical treatment that has totally changed the trajectory of her life.  Aside from a minor surgical adjustment from her original surgery from time to time, she is now a healthy, happy, active beautiful aspiring scientist. She is active as a junior Girl Scout, musician, artist and basketball player.

The future is bright for Tiara and the Cincinnati Ronald McDonald House played a huge part in making that bright future for her a possibility. Thank you for relieving us of the stress of having a very ill child. Thank you for a clean, safe, beautiful, peaceful place to have respite from the hospital and a “home away from home.” Thank you for the volunteers who help on a day-to-day basis to take care of families. We appreciate you all.
