Activities Program
Thank you for your interest in volunteering your time to provide a service or activity for Ronald McDonald House. This program provides a much-needed lift to our House and our guest families. Quality entertainment will help alleviate stress, give the opportunity of quality time spent together not focusing on health issues, and stimulate positive, hopeful feelings. These guidelines will help to ensure your time here is productive and enjoyable.

- Groups should be limited to no more than 10, unless approved prior to your event. We understand that you may want to bring as many volunteers as possible, but we are simply not equipped to handle large numbers of volunteers at one time. Our first consideration must be to the safety and comfort of our guest families.
- We schedule activity times at 7 PM. Cleanup must begin early enough to allow all visitors to exit our House by 9 PM. Please arrive no more than ½ hour earlier than your scheduled time.
- This volunteer service to the House is usually a two hour time commitment. Special arrangements can be made if your group would like to spend more time on a special project.
- Performances and activities are for the benefit of our guest families only. Please do not bring additional ‘”audience” members to your performances. We understand that you may have friends or family members who would like to view your performance but this is not the setting to do so. We simply do not have the space to accommodate large groups. Keep in mind that Ronald McDonald House is not a public facility, but an actual home to all who stay here.
- Activities could include leading a craft activity, game night, providing some type of service to our families like manicures, haircuts, or massages, or just entertaining us in some way. We enjoy all types of performances from acrobatics to zoo animals! Your ideas are always welcome!
- Younger children are allowed, as long as there is adequate adult supervision.
- Activities can take place in our kitchen, lobby, family or wellness rooms or the theatre depending on the space you need. Our theater space can accommodate up to 50 people in its recessed seating. Larger performances can be staged in our lobby. We can provide you with a diagram and dimensions, if needed.
- Please bring any equipment or materials you will need with you. We rely solely on donations, so we cannot guarantee that any supplies will be available for use at the time of your event.
- For musical or theatre groups: We do not have any kind of a sound system. You are welcome to bring in your own.
- The size of your audience - or number of participants - depends on the hospital schedules of our families which fluctuate daily. You may have anywhere from 5 to 75 people in attendance; this is no reflection on your performance.
- Ronald McDonald House is a NON-DENOMINATIONAL organization. We hope you’ll understand that we cannot accommodate any programs that are religious in nature. We have families with us from around the globe representing many different nationalities, cultures and beliefs. We cannot appear to favor any specific one.
- At no time can visitors be left unattended with any child who resides at Ronald McDonald House.
- No community restitution or court ordered volunteers can be accepted.
