Regular vs Short-term Rooms
Due to our long waiting list, it can be difficult to get a room at our House for families who only need to stay for a few days. To assist these families, we have reserved ten rooms in our House exclusively for guests staying four nights or less.
The short-term stay rooms can be booked for 1, 2, 3 or 4 nights, depending on availability.
The short-term stay rooms can be booked on the Monday one month in advance of your appointment date. See calendar instructions under How to Book a Short-Term Room.
Families who have reserved the short-term stay rooms are not eligible to be on our regular waiting list until after they have checked out of their short-term stay room.
Check out time for a short-term stay room is 10 am sharp. This is to allow us time to clean the rooms and prepare for the next family scheduled for the room after yours.
Families are limited to two separate stays per month in the short-term stay rooms. Each stay needs to be a different visit to Cincinnati.
Families will need to complete the online application form for each request to stay.
On the Monday one month in advance of your appointment date, you may contact us about booking a Short-Term Room.
The booking of these rooms is handled differently than any other room because families are assigned to these rooms with specific check-in and check-out dates.

We have 68 rooms that we refer to as regular stay rooms. This means that, when a family is placed in a room, they will be eligible to stay in that room for up to two years as long as criteria to stay in our House is being met.
After completing our online application, you will automatically be placed on the wait list for a regular room when it’s time unless you contact a Short-Term Room Coordinator.

Guest families may have limited day visitors. These visitors are welcome between the hours of 9 AM and 9 PM, but must sign in and out at the front desk. All visitors must be friends or family members of current guest families. We are unable to serve day visitors from the hospital.
The children living at Ronald McDonald House are medically fragile and highly susceptible to infections. Any person who has a physical condition that would endanger the health of our other guests, such as a cold or flu, chickenpox, etc., may not visit Ronald McDonald House.
Day visitors will not be permitted in meal time due to the amount of food prepared for families in our House.
All day visitors must follow RMH rules and guidelines while on our property. Frequent day visitors will be asked to complete a background check form.
Anyone outside the immediate family, such as an aunt, uncle or grandparent, must be helping to serve as support for the family and must be approved by RMHC management.
RMHC conducts a formal criminal background check on all individuals applying for temporary residence.
A background check authorization must be received from each individual applying to stay at least 2 business days prior to their arrival.
Guest families must discuss room occupancy with a House Manager prior to having overnight guests.
